Norm M
How did you first get into watch collecting?
Always admired my Dad’s Tudor. It just developed from there.
What movie, series, book and or podcast would you recommend?
This watch, that watch, anything from 1916 company, Adrian Barker, and ‘a blog to watch’.
How many watches are in your collection?
10-20
If you could only keep one watch from your collection, which would it be? What makes that particular piece so special to you?
My Dad’s Tudor.
Do you ever sit down to pee just so you can look at your watch?
No
What’s the most recent watch you added to your collection? What drew you to it?
Grand Seiko White Burch. Originally I was thinking of a ‘spring drive’, but the opportunity presented itself and scratched the itch. A spring drive is still on the list though.
Which watch is currently at the top of your wish list? What draws you to it?
Not sure, as there are several ‘categories’ that fill holes. Platinum case, extra long power reserve, wandering hour dial etc. So in many cases, I see something that I wasn’t specifically looking for and if it answers a question, I will buy it.
What are your favorite daily habits? Sleep, productivity, training etc
Eating well, getting a good night sleep and staying informed.
Do you choose your watch or your outfit first?
Outfit
What advice would you give to someone just starting their watch collecting journey?
Just buy something. Don’t let ‘perfect’ get in the way of good enough. I have a young coworker who only has an Apple Watch. He ‘discovers’ something new on a regular basis. A Tudor, a Rolex, a Longines. He then runs it by me. What do I know about the brand? What do I think about it? What model would I recommend? New or used? After 3+ years he still has not bought a single mechanical watch.
